The Re12000 is a two-axle refrigerated freight car that appeared in 1954, and there were 1,841 of them, including those that were converted from the Re10000, making it the most refrigerated car in service.

Due to its excellent cooling performance and the peak period for transporting fresh fish, it was frequently used as a refrigerated car at the time.
