The 24-series 25-series Yume Kukan is a prototype vehicle created by JR East based on a new concept to meet the growing demand for sleeper trains. The three cars that were introduced in 1989 were manufactured by three vehicle manufacturers, and the interior was designed by three department stores. The Orone 25-901 is a sleeper car with a luxurious interior with an "old new" theme, the Ohafu 25-901 is a lounge car with an art nouveau interior with an "intellectual space" theme, and the Osh 25-901 is a Parisian sleeper. The dining car has a post-modern interior inspired by a bistro, and each vehicle has its own distinct personality. Because each car only has one car, regular operation is not possible, and they are used as temporary trains on the Hokutosei system.
