The E129 series is a new type of train for the Niigata area that was introduced in 2014. It was introduced as a replacement for the 115 series operating in the same area and as a replacement for the E127 series transferred to Echigo Tokimeki Railway. Based on the E233 series, it is designed to be cold and snow resistant for use in the Niigata area. The body of the vehicle is decorated with ``Toki Pink'', which is inspired by the crested ibis of Sado Island, and ``Golden Yellow'', which is inspired by the autumn rice ears. It is composed of a 4-car train and a 2-car train, with the 4-car train being number 0, and the 2-car train being number 100. -The two-car Kumoha E129-100 was manufactured as one pantograph car and two pantograph cars.
