HISTORY OF THE INDEPENDENCE: SCHOONER MODEL
Discover the ship Independence, wooden model of this schooner of the War of Independence of the United States. Launched in 1775 and armed with 6 cannons, this ship contributed to the birth of a new liberal and democratic nation.
During the American Revolution, the British Royal Navy blocked all ports to prevent the arrival of supplies for the Continental Army. General George Washington decided to prepare what would later become the US Navy to undo these blockades. The schooner Independence would continue to fight fiercely for freedom until the end of the war.
